We have just co-opted a new Parish Councillor. She is reluctant to have her full contact details (address, telephone number etc) published on our website. She works in Education and is concerned that some pupils might access the information and use it to harass her. Whilst I understand her concern I, as Chairman of the PC, am uncomfortable that a Councillor should not be fully available to the electorate.

ANyone got any advice?

There are plenty of professions where members have perfectly legitimate reasons to want to protect their private lives and teaching is one of them. Normally it is simply a matter of keeping things separate, so there is a home email and a work email, a home number and a work number. You might not want to provide a phone but you can certainly provide an email. It must in no way disqualify this person from serving on the council.
