A couple of reasons your council should have a website:
Provides a portal for all Minutes and Agendas - making them easy to access
Allows you to convey important information to your electorate, in a place that is easy and simple to access
Allows you to provide contact details for councillors
Enables you to introduce your councillors to new parishioners
For towns and villages without a separate website, a council website can also provide information on the history of the village, and information for local groups
It meets one of the Requirements for NALC's Quality Council Status

Let me also add that although our Village already had it's own Site I attempted to persuade our Council to have their own Site. The reasons for this were mainly I felt we needed to be independant and able to update when we wanted. The remainder of the Council did not now we find we are restricted by a site that the Webmaster visits when he feels to update and from the visits shows little use. Take my word pay for your own. |
