We are detecting some anger at this topic, and to be honest, this is not coming as much of a surprise to us - it has been a very contentious issue amongst Parish Clerks for some time now.
We are starting a poll to see what you all think about the qualifications for Parish Clerks. Please vote to let us know, and we will post the answers on this site in 1 month. |

i think there is a problem with qualifications. You have to ask what benefit are the council going to get. If it is a small council I think this would be small. But if it is a medium/large council then there could be benefits. As a small council in terms of precept but the largest in England in terms of area. We have found that we have had a problem.
We sent the previous clerk on courses as she felt she needed qualifications. Yet she came back after only one year in the post and demanded a larger salary a new contract and a re-grading to show she was more qualified.
Beware of taking this route unless your council can afford it
